Beyond Sedohr Photo & Image Guidelines

Great Prints Start With Great Images

At Beyond Sedohr, we want your custom creation to look its absolute best! The quality of your finished product depends greatly on the quality of the photo, logo, or artwork you provide.

The higher the resolution of your original image, the sharper and clearer your finished product will be especially when your image is enlarged.

These guidelines are especially important for custom photo boards, life-size standees, character cutouts, memorial prints, banners, signs, apparel, and other personalized products.

Choosing an Existing Photo

For the best results, we recommend:

  • Use the original photo whenever possible. Original files generally provide the best resolution and print quality.

  • Choose a large, high-resolution image. We recommend files that are approximately 1MB or larger whenever possible.

  • Choose close-up photos for face or head cutouts. The subject should be clearly visible and in focus.

  • Use well-lit photos. Good lighting helps preserve facial features, colors, and important details when the image is enlarged.

  • Choose photos where the entire subject is visible. For full-body standees or cutouts, make sure hands, arms, legs, feet, hair, hats, and other details you want included are not cropped out.

Taking a New Photo?

You don't need a professional camera! Most modern smartphones can capture excellent high-resolution images when used correctly.

For the best results:

Use your rear-facing camera.
The main camera on your phone typically produces better-quality images than the front-facing selfie camera.

Get close to your subject.
Instead of using digital zoom, physically move closer whenever possible.

For head cutouts, fill the frame with the person's face without cutting off their hair, ears, hats, or other details you want included.

Use good lighting.
Natural daylight or a bright, evenly lit area usually produces the best results. Avoid dark rooms, heavy shadows, and extremely bright light behind the subject.

Keep the camera steady.
Make sure your photo is clear and in focus before submitting it.

Images to Avoid

Some images may look perfectly fine on a phone but lose significant quality when enlarged for printing.

Whenever possible, please avoid:

Screenshots
Screenshots generally have lower resolution and may become pixelated or blurry when enlarged.

Photos downloaded from social media
Images saved from Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, or other social platforms are often compressed, which reduces their print quality.

Photos sent through text messages
Some messaging services automatically compress images. Sending the original file is always preferred.

Blurry or out-of-focus photos
We may be able to make minor improvements, but severely blurred images cannot always be restored. Enlarging a blurry photo can make the problem more noticeable.

Digital zoom
Digital zoom reduces image quality by cropping and enlarging the image. Instead, move closer to your subject whenever possible.

Pictures of printed pictures
Taking a phone photo of an old printed photograph may introduce glare, shadows, distortion, or loss of detail. If an original digital file is unavailable, take the clearest possible photo in good, even lighting with no glare.

Group photos
Cropping one person from a large group photo can significantly reduce resolution. Additionally, if another person or object covers part of the subject's face or body, the missing portion may not be suitable for a cutout or standee.

Recommended Image Specifications

For the best possible print quality, we recommend submitting:

  • Files approximately 1MB or larger

  • Images approximately 1800 × 1800 pixels or larger

  • 75 PPI or higher at the intended print size when possible

  • Original JPG, JPEG, PNG, PDF, or other high-quality files, depending on the product

For logos, graphics, and business artwork, high-resolution PNG, PDF, SVG, EPS, or other vector quality artwork is preferred whenever available.

Image Enhancement & Quality

Beyond Sedohr may make basic adjustments to prepare your image for production, such as cropping, background removal, sizing, or minor image enhancement when applicable.

Please understand that image enhancement cannot completely restore detail that does not exist in the original file.

Low-resolution, heavily pixelated, extremely blurry, or severely cropped images may not produce the same results as a high-resolution original.

If we determine that your image may not produce an acceptable result, we may contact you and request a replacement image before production begins.

Customer Supplied Images & Copyright

By submitting an image, logo, photograph, character, graphic, or other artwork to Beyond Sedohr, you confirm that you have the necessary permission or rights to use the submitted material for your requested product.

Beyond Sedohr reserves the right to decline images or artwork that we determine cannot be reproduced or that contains inappropriate or offensive material.
